Tennessee Sludge Spill Over 1 Billion Gallons

As you probably have seen and heard in the news over the last week, sometime last Monday, December 22, 2008, a retention wall at a Kingston, Tennessee power plant breached, spilling hazardous waste and sludge from the impoundment into the surrounding area.

Increased Exposure to Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) in Children and Adolescents

The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a non-profit organization, has issued a September 2008 study concluding that “a class of chemicals used in fire retardants, is appearing in toddlers’ blood at three times higher than in their mothers.”
